When Church Partnership Becomes Practical Love

At Love INC of Metro Tampa, church partnership is more than a name on a list. It is the Body of Christ coming together to love neighbors in tangible, dignity-restoring ways.

This June, Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church beautifully demonstrated that partnership through its annual Serve Week.

Throughout the week, students, leaders, and volunteers served alongside Love INC in meaningful ways, meeting practical needs while sharing Christ’s love through action.

Caring for Neighbors, One Yard at a Time

One team focused on yard beautification projects for Love INC Guests. With willing hands, joyful hearts, and servant spirits, volunteers transformed outdoor spaces that had become difficult for some Guests like Suzanne to maintain on their own.

For a neighbor facing hardship, an overgrown yard can become more than a maintenance issue. It can bring stress, create safety concerns, and even lead to pressure from landlords, neighbors, or local code enforcement. A freshly maintained yard offers more than curb appeal—it restores dignity, brings peace of mind, and reminds our Guests that they are not alone.

Strengthening Ministry Behind the Scenes

Serve Week also included hands-on support at The Portico, where volunteers tackled projects that strengthen Love INC’s day-to-day ministry. While some acts of service happen directly alongside our Guests, others take place behind the scenes, preparing spaces and organizing resources that help us serve families more effectively.

Every act of service—whether seen or unseen—helps extend Christ’s love throughout our community.

The Church at Work

Palma Ceia Presbyterian’s Serve Week reflected the heart of Love INC’s mission: helping churches help people and transform lives in the Name of Christ.

Whether clearing a yard, organizing supplies, offering prayer, or simply showing up with a servant’s heart, these volunteers demonstrated that love doesn’t have to be complicated to be powerful. Sometimes love looks like a rake, a pair of work gloves, or an afternoon freely given so that someone else feels encouraged, supported, and seen.
