In Her Own Words: Lava’s Love Story

Six months ago, I rededicated my life to the Lord and began pursuing Him wholeheartedly. At first, the journey felt impossible—but as we all know, nothing is impossible with Christ. Through many trials and tribulations, one whisper from God stayed with me then, now, and forever: “Be still and know that I am God.”

When I first encountered Love INC, I was facing eviction. They connected me to community resources that helped me pay my rent. They also explained how they don’t offer one-time financial assistance, but instead provide a plan—and a mentor—to help people climb out of financial hardship. If I’m being honest, I initially resisted their questions about my private life and their recommendations around financial literacy.

But I didn’t just want financial assistance—I felt led by the Holy Spirit to build a connection, a bond, and a relationship with the ministry. I joined their Faith & Finances course to gain a better understanding of managing my finances. If I’m being honest, it turned out to be a huge blessing. Not only did I gain valuable financial knowledge, but I also gained a strong support system and an extended family.

During my time in the Faith & Finances meetings, my apartment lease came to an end. At the same time, I was without a steady job. My children and I became homeless. In that moment, I heard the familiar whisper again: ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ I chose to trust the Lord, believing He would make a way—and He did.

Three weeks later, I received a job offer from Amazon. I began paying off my debt little by little. A few months after that, I was able to secure my own place again. After I committed to the program, the Love INC network assisted with the security deposit, and generous donations helped furnish our home. Gratitude washed over me as I recognized how everything was truly working together for my good.

On December 4, 2025, I faced another setback when my car was repossessed. Though it was discouraging, I chose not to give up. I continued saving money, even while making sacrifices—using Uber to get back and forth to work and paying extra for grocery delivery. There have been moments of frustration, including cancelled rides without notice or refund, but even in the valley, I continue to praise God.

Through every high and low, I have learned to trust God’s timing, remain still in His presence, and believe that He will continue to provide—just as He always has.
